I spoke with the artist a little more about what I wanted, and we decided that the best course of action would be to sit down and do the full sleeve design in one go (at least the line work), and she would like some more time to give the design the effort it deserves while giving me the time to save up the money for the whole thing.
I’m mostly excited about this because she seems really enthusiastic about doing a Lovecraft themed sleeve. I really wanted to find an artist who likes Lovecraft and is familiar with his work, so they could really capture the imagery and make my tattoo appropriately awesome.
This postponement is also good because I’m skating in a bout on Saturday…

I recently blacked out for the first time in my life. My derby team threw a going away party for a very energetic lady who happened to love whiskey…probably more than I do. I was going really slow, had a hard cider and a few jello shots, a half a glass of wine…and then she started pouring whiskey down my throat. Literally pouring. Like, mouthfuls of whiskey, over and over and over. One minute I’m dancing in my teammate’s living room, next thing I know I’m waking up on my boyfriend’s couch with my head in a bucket. There are photographs of me from that night, hugging everyone emphatically, being carried out of the house, etc. At one point I fell into a bush and cut up my arms, and at another point I stripped down to my underwear and ran through my bf’s apartment while his roommate was home.
I was in a panic because I have to drive to Ithaca tomorrow for an interview at Cornell, and I needed a full tank of gas, plus an oil change and possibly a new tire before I could do that. Plus some money for tolls and meals…
